Located at the dam on Canyon Lake’s eastern shoreline, Canyon Overlook Park serves up one of the best views of the lake. Hike the park’s 0.6-mile trail that takes you to the water’s edge, a journey on which you might see an abundance of birds and wildlife.

Take flight in an authentic B-25 from World War II and get an up-close look at vintage aircraft from that era at the Central Texas Wing of the Commemorative Air Force in San Marcos. Stroll through the hangar and you’ll encounter such aircraft as a P-39Q Bell Airacobra and a BT-13 Valiant. After regarding the aircraft, step into the museum that showcases World War II artifacts and uniforms.

This 52 acre valley has a beautiful walking trail loop for hiking and biking. It is open from sunrise to sunset. No motor vehicles are allowed, and please clean up any pet messes.
James C. Curry Nature Center opened to the public in February of 2015. The 52 acres just east of Canyon Dam were donated by the Curry family in 2013.

Run by the University of Texas at Austin Biodiversity Center, this site functions as the official state botanical garden and arboretum.

The LBJ Ranch was where President Johnson was born, lived, died, and was buried. After the his death in 1973, Mrs. Johnson continued to live at the Ranch part time until her death in 2007.
Visitors can tour the Ranch at their own pace in their private vehicle and stop at sites along the way such as the President's birthplace, the Johnson family cemetery, and the Johnson's ranch house known as the Texas White House.
This park is run by the National Park Service.

The only museum in the Continental United States focused on World War II's Pacific campaign. Occupies a six-acre campus and includes a Memorial Courtyard, Plaza of Presidents and Japanese Garden of Peace. The George H. W. Bush Gallery state-of-the-art 33,000 square foot exhibition features media installations, hundreds of artifacts and photographs.
Two blocks east of the main campus is the Pacific Combat Zone which is home to the popular WWII Pacific Combat Program that takes place on set weekends throughout the year.
